A topic of a great deal of discussion among Autistic people is that of diagnosis. While self-diagnosis is generally viewed as accepted in the vast majority of Autistic spaces, there are numerous reasons why a person may wish to seek a formal diagnosis. In particular, people seek the validation thar such a thing brings, and also often need a diagnosis in order to access the welfare system of their country.
